I posted this as I am trying not to panic myself – and I am the one that has been sharing all of these wonderful patterns and tools to use!
So it is January 2nd, and I still haven’t selected a pattern and yarn palette. I have too many options and have many ideas in my head. Truly, I am not really panicked though, as I know that I did the same thing last year and the year before, and the year before.
In my case I KNOW I am not going to do a pattern that is in rows. Just not. I either want to do a multi-day pattern or one that uses both highs and lows. So, since I am probably doing an alternating 5 to 4 day blanket or a weekly one, I think I am okay.
I did a test run of a pattern using both highs and lows from last year’s temperatures, and I am not liking my color scale. I feel it repeats too much, and I would need to add more colors than I have already. I am trying to control things though that cannot be controlled.
But another issue is yarn selection. I just can’t find a full spectrum of colors for what I would like to do. I find a few, but then there are too many that are also too light or too dark.
I have laid out some palettes. I like the middle one, but would need a lot more colors in between. The Red Heart/Big Twist one has a couple colors that didn’t exactly fit the way I would like, and I don’t care for their yarn either. Too rough, but since it is stiffer and heavier than the other two, it might make the flowers I have in mind better.
