If you were wanting to incorporate both highs and lows, a solid granny square (or regular granny) is a good pattern to use.
In fact, a granny or solid granny lends itself to adding more details if you wish.
In the photo on the left, Anita Havel Powell incorporated highs, lows, birthstone colors, and a special border for special days. Here is her explanation:
A solid birthstone colored square to start each month, then the daily squares for that month had the birthstone color in the center, then low temp, then high temp for that day. Border color was black for normal days and a sparkly white yarn for special days. It fits a king sized bed with some overhang.
